Probably one of the most terrifyingly beautiful photo sets I’ve seen. I never thought I would say that about pictures of insects — which there seems to be an awful lot of on flickr — but the colors and detail are pretty incredible. The set description says ‘most were taken with a macro bellows’ … I’m not sure what that means but I think it translates to ‘I was able to take these really detailed pictures from far away with my super camera’. I still don’t like bees or spiders but seeing them from this light doesn’t make them seem so menacing.
“Marv I once had a 40 year old room mate. His name was Marv and he would say things like “Whats up, butt slut?” or “Hey Sick Willy Style.” I used to sort of cringe and die a little inside whenever he spoke to me. That was Marv. He was one of the best room mates I’ve ever had. Always did the dishes, always had a story to tell, always wanted to hang out with people half his age. Sort of a weirdo but after I moved out I felt like that void in my soul was only going to heal. But did I really want to heal? Yes. Do I wish I could have hung out more? Not really but I think Marv did. He was a nice dude and had 4 kids. 1 of them was 18 years old and had a mohawk who stayed with us a few days, sleeping on the floor of Marv’s bed. Marv said something I’ll never forget “the proof is in the freakin’ pudding.” He was right and so was I to move out.”—B as in Booya: Marv
Korean computer engineers are introducing a new digital music format that has a six-channel audio equalizer and separate controls on the sound volume for each musical instrument, such as guitar, drum, base and voice. The new format, which has a file extension format of MT9 and a commercial title of “Music 2.0″, is poised to replace the popular MP3 file format as the de-facto standard of the digital music source, its inventors say
What do you think? Time to buy stock or another failed attempt?
It is fan-fucking-tastic out there today. I just got back from a bike ride in Highland park, which has been my sanctuary as of late (fo reals).
Apart from the whole being a park thing the area is incredibly nice. However, as with any neighborhood I guess there are good parts and there are bad parts. Never has this been more true than in Highland park. For example, one minute I’m riding around in a neighborhood characterized by beautiful stone mansions with lush green grass and a huge hill and a sharp left turn later I’m literally in the ghetto (fo reals). Like broken glass and barbed wire, cars sitting on cider-blocks, and people shoutin ‘you don’t belong here honkey' kind of ghetto. Where did the mansions and green grass go?
I’ll admit I was a little scared, but I did what I had to do — I put some 50 cent on the ipod, tipped my helmet to the side, and pedal as fast as I could towards the giant green dome (seriously, Its the only building I recognized).
I’m still waiting to fall in love with the new Jason Mraz CD - We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. There’s a few obvious songs that I’m enjoying, but I’m not in that ‘play it front to back’ mode as of yet.
I like it but I would have to agree. I feel like it is very top heavy — I think the first 6-7 tracks are good but I’m not feeling the rest of the CD. Was it intentional? Did he run out of steam? I’m not sure. If he came back to Pittsburgh on tour would I see him again? Absolutely.
Take my favorite song on the new CD - butterfly? Why do I like it? Because it’s fun and funky and I feel like dancing uncontrollably when I hear it. It’s much more reminiscent of old Mraz. With all that being said I’m sure it will grow on me.
Send a Bullet is a documentary-style film about the corruption and class warfare in Sao Paulo, Brazil —a place where kidnapping is rampant, even the extremely wealthy don’t feel safe, and corrupt politicians embezzle untold amounts of money from reform initiatives (SADUM). With a population of over 20 million it is virtually impossible to police. Crime hasn’t only been legitimized it has become the only way to survive.
Paranoid Park isn’t doing it for me. I don’t think it’s bad, and i’ll probably go back and finish it at some point, but it just isn’t what I was in the mood for tonight. Switching gears: next up Send a Bullet
